About ctzdesign

I’ve been working in online media long enough to remember when it was called “New Media,” and have had the opportunity to work for — and with — some of the biggest brands in the industry: America Online, the New York Times Company, WFAN, the National Basketball Association, the City of New York, and Parenting, Field & Stream and Popular Science magazines, to name a few.

In 2007 I took my decade-plus of experience with those businesses and starting putting it to use building sites for companies and non-profit organizations. I’ve built a wide array of sites since then, for architects and psychiatrists, charities and writers and more. And I’ve continued working as a consultant, helping large companies with search engine optimization and web site traffic reporting.

Maybe I can help your company, too. Contact me for a free consultation and price quote.

My Philosophy

Several of my clients came to me needing help with web sites that they didn’t have the ability — or the access — to maintain. That’s not what ctzdesign is about. I build web sites you can maintain and charge rates you can afford — you won’t need to call me every time you need to make a change. I aim to make updating your site as easy as writing an e-mail.

Of course, if you’d like the additional support, I’m happy to provide rates for ongoing maintenance, site updates, even hosting. Tell me what you need, and I can come up with a solution.

I don’t believe in “re-inventing the wheel.” For many businesses, it’s possible to put together a very professional-looking site using a basic template and the logo from a business card. But if you need something more specific custom-built to meet your needs or an artist to help with logos and look-and-feel, I have a large network of talented providers and can serve as your general contractor for any work I don’t handle personally.

Social Networking and Other Buzzwords

Your online presence doesn’t end with your site. People need to be able to find you… and you might want to use other options — like Twitter, or Facebook — to reach out to current and future customers.

Every site I build is optimized to be “crawled” by search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing. If you want to leverage other options — setting up a Twitter feed to communicate with your customers, or a Facebook page where people can become your “fans” — I can help.

Hoops

In addition to running ctzdesign, I have a “side” business — I cover basketball for About.com. My columns also appear on Rotowire.com, NBA.com and Yahoo! Sports.

That work gives me a unique perspective — I know what it’s like to run a web site that’s constantly battling for eyeballs and attention, to try to build an audience, to watch the search trends and create content that will place highly in Google’s rankings. The market is constantly evolving — and my sites are evolving along with it.

I can help your site evolve as well.
